Fabregas - Our style of play makes me so happy

Eight more years of Cesc Fabregas? If Sunday's masterful display at Reading is anything to go by, Arsenal fans will be begging for more when the Spaniard's new contract expires in 2014.

Fabregas orchestrated Arsenal's emphatic win at the Madejski Stadium, setting up Thierry Henry's first-minute goal, winning a second-half penalty and dictating the tempo of the game with passing and awareness which belied his tender years.

Last week, Fabregas cited Arsenal's style of play as one reason for his long-term commitment to the Club. Sunday's 4-0 victory proved his point.

"When I am on the pitch I really enjoy myself, and this is so important for a player," said Fabregas. "I'm not sure if I could play in a team which played long balls all the time.

"And when we play this kind of football, especially in the first half, it is difficult for teams to create chances against us.

"Our type of game makes me feel so happy, and when I go home I can relax and enjoy it on the television because all of our goals today were great goals, even the penalty because of the pass Thierry gave me.

"I really enjoy playing for this team, we have some great players and for me it's like a dream come true. But I have to keep improving, keep playing my game, play for the team and try to win titles for the team."

Arsenal's win lifted them to fourth place in the Premiership, five points behind Manchester United and Chelsea with a game in hand. It's a far cry from the first month of the campaign which saw Arsenal take just two points from their first three League games. Fabregas believes the doubters have been proved wrong.

"After the first three games people were saying that we would have the same problems as last year but we came back and the goals came back too because we were creating so many opportunities and the ball didn't want to go into the net," he said.

"Sometimes in football you need good luck, for example with our first goal today when the ball went through a Reading player's legs. Sometimes that didn't happen last year.

"I think it will be difficult to win the title but we feel we can make it. We are up against very good teams, not just Chelsea and Manchester United but Liverpool too, even though they are not in their best moment.

"And be careful of Bolton too, even though no one is talking about them but they are still winning. I am sure there will four or five teams up at the top and we need to be one of them."

Shortly after putting pen to paper on his new deal, Fabregas noted: "What is important now is for the team to realise its potential and win trophies." If they maintain Sunday's performance level, the Spaniard will surely get his wish.
